The 6th Season of Entourage

Entourage follows the great HBO series tradition of sharp cutting edge comedy and, as other HBO shows have been, addictive. I have to say Entourage is currently my favorite network series on the air right now. I must say HBO did it’s thing with this one.

Entourage takes a look at the day-to-day life of Vincent (Vince) Chase, a hot young actor in modern-day Hollywood, and his entourage. Which happens to be his 3 best friends in life, His manager Eric, half-brother Drama, and friend Turtle. My favorite Character is Ari Gold, Vince’s agent, played brilliantly by Jeremy Piven. Ari is a fast talking, on top of the game and industry action agent.

Entourage is kinda of like the male version of “Sex and the City” but it is appealing to both sexes at the same time. Entourage is definitely a show you will become addicted to, but I’m done talking about it let the show speak for itself. If you haven’t heard Entourage airs Sunday Nights at 10:30 p.m. on HBO. Trey Songz recently released his new mixtape Anticipation today(June 30) I can honestly say this man is maturing day by day in his music whether it’s in his mixtapes of in his albums. Trey has his own unique style where he freestyle/sings on others beats and makes the song his own, but with Anticipation he brings the feel back where he’s singing and doing it for the ladies. When I think back to Just Gotta Make It and how much I love that song as well as the album you can see the higher level he’s taking his music to and he keeps exceeding himself every time. BET Awards 2009

WOW! Tonight the BET awards hosted by Jamie Foxx does not get the stamp of approval from me. I personally think that a lot of things were rushed and not well put together. Although they wanted to do a tribute for Michael Jackson (R.I.P) and they only had a few days to put it together, they should have put in overtime for practice. Janet Jackson was phenomenal for coming out and speaking as well as Joesph Jackson being in the audience. I especially loved the performance w/ Jamie Foxx and Neyo, but I wish there was more of a though process when it came to them putting together a tribute for Michael Jackson.

New Edition, Beyonce, Lil Wayne/Drake/Young money, Mary Mary, The O’Jays, Keyshia Cole & Monica etc. to name a few were some of the entertainers who performed tonight. I especially loved Mary Mary’s performance and the tribute to the O’Jays by Trey Songz, Tyrese, and Johnny Gill, and who could forget BBD, Guy and Keith Sweat (no comment).

Also congratulations to Alicia Keys and Wyclef Jean for the Humanitarian award for them being outstanding citizens in their community that is what giving back is all about. Also congratulations to Beyonce, Lil Wayne, Neyo, Keri Hilson, Taraji P. Henson, Jaime Foxx, LeBron James and many more for the awards they received tonight. Hopefully the awards next year won’t take the turn of events that it did this year, all in all I give the awards a C-.

King of Pop Dies….

Today on June 25, 2009 the king of pop Michael Jackson, passed away at the age of 50. It took a while to be confirmed, but the singer was rushed to UCLA medical center when ambulance found him in his home not breathing. He later died at the hospital after being in a deep coma. The king of pop was recently scheduled to a 50 city tour across London, and no one was aware of him being sick. This is truly a sad moment for the entertainment industry because he set the bar for so many entertainers today. This ICON will truly be missed and prayers go out to his family.

My Thoughts Lately…..

Lately I have been thinking about the use of the so-called word “Swag” and I’ve been thinking how the use of this word should be put to rest! When it comes to “Swag” can anybody tell me the actual meaning?

NO because it’s just another word brought up to put others down who don’t live up to some so-called standard that people live by, to have some sort or popularity ranking. I think it’s disgusting how we can fault other people for what they choose to wear; and everyone does this (because I have). Until I sat back and thought the purpose of being your OWN person, being an INDIVIDUAL and being ORIGINAL is thinking outside the box doing what you want to do or wearing what you want to wear not because of some validation of another person or look like these mainstream entertainers but because it is something that you truly like.

Realistically most people who use this word “swag” cannot even demonstrate what they are talking about that’s suppose to be something they have that’s so better and different from others. WHY? because they wear what they see in the media or buy their outfits straight off the mannequin, to fulfill the standards of the latest trends, instead of being unique and coming up with their own personal STYLE and wearing it with confidence no matter what other people say.

It’s time to put this word to an end people! GOT SWAGGA???…..NO I DO NOT; I HAVE MY OWN PERSONAL STYLE!

Kobe vs Jordan- There Can Only Be One

First off Congrats to Kobe, it’s been a long time coming; I think over the years the media has given him so much grief, not to say that he hasn’t brought some of that upon himself.

Kobe just won his 4th NBA championship which ties him with Derek Fisher, Tim Duncan, and Shaq O’Neal as the current leaders in the category among active players. He also won his 1^st finals MVP trophy.

Throughout Kobe’s career people have always made comparisons between Kobe and Michael Jordan, I must say they seem to have a lot in common. They played the same Position, same height, same coach, same offense, same will to be the best, and their on-court play reminisce each other.

So why not make the comparison?

Kobe’s not done playing he is only 30 and he probably has about 5 seasons left at the high level he is playing now. Kobe is his own player, in his defense he has never asked to be compared to MJ and with his resume lacking many of Jordan’s accomplishment I would not have either.
They played in different era’s if Jordan played with the current rules i.e. (no hand-checking) he would have averaged 50 PPG. Some say the talent of the 90’s isn’t on par with the level of the talent now and I must agree with that in a sense, athletics are bigger faster and stronger but then again that’s an unchangeable variable. Mike played against first ballot hall of famers every year in the finals:
- Magic Johnson and James Worthy in 91’ finals Bulls won 4-1 Jordan averaged: 31.2 points on 56% shooting, 11.4 assists, 6.6 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 1.4 blocks
- Clyde Drexel in the 92’ finals Bulls won 4-2 Jordan averaged: 35.8 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 6.5 APG while shooting 53% from the floor.
- Charles Barkley and Thunder Dan in the 93’ finals Bulls won 4-2 Jordan averaged: 41.0 PPG, 8.5 RPG and 6.3 APG while shooting 51% from the field
- Gary Payton and a young athletic Shawn Kemp in the 95’ finals
- Karl Malone arguably the pest PF ever and John Stockton in Back to Back finals to finish off his title run.

For Kobe to be mention in the same breath as Jordan is an accomplishment Jordan was the clear cut best player every year in the NBA. Kobe is a legitimate top 10-15 player of all time, but still has things to prove to further cement his legacy. I don’t think it’s fair to compare them at all, in MJ your talking about a person that transcended sport, every sport not just basketball. He brought endorsements to the table, he gave players so many different avenues to collect revenue, not to mention he was no slouch on the court. Kobe’s not even the best Laker of all time yet so he has room to grow, I do think he will reach that plateau.

Kobe= greatest player in his generation
MJ= greatest of all time

The way I see it is Kobe Bryant is clearly his generation’s greatest player so far, but comparing him to the greatest of all time is unjust to him. He should be judged on his own accomplishments because, as you can all see, he just is not in Jordan’s league.

Jon Voight (actor) has a few words against Obama

Jon Voight yes, the actor has a few worlds for our President Barack Obama. He goes as far to call him a false prophet. I just wanted the world to view this in case you missed it, I think that since the election has past of younger America has lost track of whats going on in the U.S today.

My comments on the situation are below:Jon

Every new president inherits issues from the last president every president and his cabinet and party bring and initiate their plans, they run their gambles. Unfortunately for Obama, he’s in a position where almost all he’s doing is one big gamble. In my mind, we’re in a lot of trouble for a long time however this is not solely do to Obama if you thought Obama was gonna fix the problems in America in his first 6 months in office then you’re wrong no-one could have done that.

America is truly in a F*#k-up situation (excuse my french) there is no simple button you can push to fix this, there is no one solution for the problem.

The trouble is not his fault, of course he can only now attempt to right the wrongs of our past president. I can’t imagine why anyone would want to be president nowadays, let alone the first black president, but maybe we should be glad some do.

Recently declared 2010′s most anticipated artist Drake was recently interviewed at Hyde Park in London. During the interview he answers questions about the legendary show done in New York at SOB’s. With the nation anticipating the release of his first album entitled “Thank Me Later” everyone is still waiting to hear who he will sign with and what label will have rights to his LP. As a fan of new school artists I’ve personally gained a high appreciation of the new culture that Drake along with the “Freshman 10″ are bringing to the game. Mainly internet artists they have changed how music is circulated and opened up new doors for the hip-hop world. When asked about possibly releasing his album independently, Drake gave hint that it was a strong possibility. Not wanting to have to fit into a certain genre, or produce a certain type of music, he makes it clear he’s not too excited about entering the politically driven rap industry. “I refuse to let this album be about politics.”

Following that statement he touches on the fact that music is diverse art in which he can touch many types of listeners. When asked about his buzz, and the possibility of putting out an album without a label, he embraces the fact that he has an opportunity to prove a point “which is a change in a generation”. He hinted at having Kanye produce the whole album. (Along with his current engineers.)

Personally, I’m anticipating the release of “Thank Me Later” to be an independent release that will go platinum, and change the hip hop industry forever. Embracing our generations capabilities and producing an album strictly from internet buzz, self produced shows, and the love of fans nationwide, will go down in rap/hip-hop! history. He has the power to change the game forever and put a muzzle on all these old school ass artists, DJ’s and radio host, who don’t respect the grind of our generation’s rising stars, and try to downplay how they’ve put themselves on. As the industry continues to keep putting out a certain image for hip hop, the Freshman 10, led by Drake are producing the hottest music and setting a new trend for hip-hop and it’s future.
